Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will head to New York for campaign cash

In his latest out-of-state trip to gin up cash for his presidential run, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will be heading to a New York City suburb at the end of the month. A fundraising invitation, tweeted by City & State New York’s Jeff Coltin, shows DeSantis in Rockland County on June 29. 

“The area has a large Orthodox Jewish population, and it’s in #NY17, where Rep. Mike Lawler is saying he wants to ‘move in a different direction’ from Trump,” Coltin writes. The invitation says DeSantis and “major business leaders” will host cocktails and a dinner at the Crowne Plaza in Suffern, about an hour and a half north of midtown Manhattan. The cost of admission is $6,600 a person or $13,200 a couple. 

The governor’s travels in pursuit of the White House most recently include a Texas fundraising tour this week and a stop in Greensboro, North Carolina Friday for the state’s Republican Party State Convention. He’ll also be in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday to headline an event thrown by the Never Back Down super PAC supporting his bid. 

Next week, he’s planning to be in Sacramento, California – where he just flew a contingent of migrants – for a ‘roundtable breakfast’ priced at $3,300 per ticket, the Sacramento Bee reported. It’s hosted by Steve Eggert, founder and president of Anton DevCo, a real estate development company. He also sits on the board of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, a right-leaning think tank, the paper said.
