First Up: Team DeSantis plugs the boss’ Wall Street Journal op-ed

From the daily "First Read" email.

In their latest email, Team DeSantis is calling attention to the governor’s Tuesday op-ed in The Wall Street Journal, “Why I Stood Up to Disney.” More to the point, they’re calling out President Joe Biden’s administration for not reading it.

“I have not read the op-ed and frankly, I don't plan to,” the email says, quoting an unnamed “Biden official.” The email does not explain where the quote came from. Nonetheless, it says if “the Biden team is this afraid of something, that’s probably a clue that it’s a good read.”

The op-ed is a reprise of many of the governor’s latest and greatest hits: It boosts his Parental Rights in Education Act, which “bans classroom instruction on sexuality and gender ideology in kindergarten through third grade and requires that sex instruction in other grades be age-appropriate.”

It also slams environmental, social and governance – or ESG – investing practices and says “woke ideology is a form of cultural Marxism” before closing with his catchphrase, “we are the state where woke goes to die.” And of note, it’s strictly messaging: there’s no “Donate Now” button at the end.
