Brightline, a private passenger railroad that currently operates in south Florida, dedicated two new stations on Tuesday, in Boca Raton and Aventura. Among those at the Boca Raton event: Brightline CEO Patrick Goddard, state Sen. Tina Polsky, Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer and Broward County Commissioner Mike Udine.

The new Boca Raton station, which has on-site security and a premium lounge, cost about $60 million. It's located on a 1.8 acre site near the downtown library, across from Mizner Park. The 22,000 square foot station features a 445 space parking garage, which will serve Brightline passengers and visitors to the library.

Officials continue to encourage more people to use mass transit, especially between South Florida and Orlando. A trip from Boca Raton to Orlando (when the Orlando station is complete) should take about two hours.
